ECREEE - Dakar, Senegal - 14TH November 2018 - The Coordinator of the Private Sector Support Facility of ROGEP, Mr. Sire Diallo, has spoken of the importance of the project which aims to support the efforts of West Africa and Sahel countries to accelerate the deployment of standalone PV systems for households, public services and productive uses. In his presentation on the theme ‘Advancement on the preparation of ROGEP’ at the Second ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum, Mr. Diallo said the project aims to promote private sector investment with a market based approach in expanding off-grid electricity access.

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), once more has demonstrated its strong commitment to promote sustainable energy in the ECOWAS region by establishing a strategic partnership with the SolarWind.

SolarWind positions itself as a leading electronic expert and renewable energy technology group of companies providing design, consultancy, build and operate medium to large power plants, solar lighting systems and solar water treatments solution. The company combines renewable energy and storage to provide communities with clean, resilient an affordable power, public lighting and water.

Santo Antão – 17/January/2019 

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), inaugurated a solar PV mini-grid in Planalto Norte with the capacity of 45 kWp, budgeted in the amount of 300 thousand USD to benefit 50 families in the region.

Once more ECREEE has demonstrated its strong commitment towards the region by merging efforts with partners such as the Municipality of Porto Novo, ADMP and the Camões Institute of Portugal in order to take steps to boost renewable energy penetration and improve livelihood conditions of isolated off-grid communities, through sustainable energy access.

The Government of Guinea Bissau, in partnership with UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization), ECREEE (ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency) and ALER (Lusophone Association of Renewable Energies), supported by the GEF (Global Environment Facility), organized the Guinea Bissau Sustainable Energy International Conference in Bissau, Guinea Bissau, on December 6th and 7th. This event welcomed around 150 participants from Guinean public institutions, private sector, financiers, NGOs and academic institutions.

At the opening session, his Excellency the Minister of Energy, Industry and Natural Resources, António Serifo Embaló assured the commitment of the Government in promoting sustainable energies and said "In this conference we discuss more than just energy – we discuss the future of an entire young generation and its perspective to have access to modern public services and decent income earned in key industrial sectors such as agriculture, food processing, fishery, tourism and manufacturing."
